Yang’s Climate Plan, a Veteran's view

It's here. #YangsClimatePlan is released and it's impressive. Ive only begun reading it, it is clear he is sober, serious and practical in his approach. In the outline of his five prong approach 1-4 were serious and impressive. 5 was the lightbulb. A Constitutional Amendment.

See, like all other #veterans we swore to support and defend the #Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. And to bear true faith and allegiance to the same. It is sacred to us, enshrining our commitment saving our children through action on the climate belongs.

We may think that we #Veterans who took up arms in defense of our nation in the desert or stood ready to do violence in protection of our people, our way of life did something for our children. And maybe we did. But now, now we are called upon to do something so much harder.

This enemy does not hide in caves, issue fatwas or have ordinary human frailties. This enemy does not want to nudge us toward a caliphate, dispatch operatives to fly planes into buildings wielding boxcutters or operate from backwaters of civilization.

This enemy is us. It is the way of life we have built over centuries. The economy we raised and the luxuries we enjoy. It is the stable food supply we offer our children, the plane trips home to see grandparents. It is treating the atmosphere our children breathe as a dump.

We can't forgo the food, the life we have created. But we cant poison our children for it either. We can't call down the violent weather on our progeny like the wrath of a vengeful god. We can't drive the world into famine forcing our children into more interventions.

We must take on this challenge. We must take action. #YangsClimatePlan shows us the best path to do so. Read the plan. Tweet the hashtag. Tell your friends and family. Sign up to volunteer and tell strangers. Do not make excuses. Do not ignore this. This is real. To arms!
